  4. Using iUploader with iView
  5.  
  6. 1. You must have an account with one of the photo websites to upload. If you don't then go to that site using your browser on the web and register. Go to any or all of our partners at:

  8.      www.clubphoto.com
  9.      www.photopoint.com
  10.      www.zing.com

  12.      Set up an account(s) and write down or remember the log in info.

  14. 2. In iView go to the preferences (command ;) and choose helpers from the drop down menu. Add or make sure iUploader is one of the helpers.

  16. 3. Next open iUploader and go to the File menu and choose Host preferences. Here you choose which site you want to upload to. Choose a site from the drop down list. There will be a dialog to enter the username and password and any other necessary info for that site into the Host preferences in iUploader.

  18. 4. Now you are ready to upload directly to that site from iView. There are two ways.
  19.      a. Using iView Multimedia select a photo or mark a number of photos. Choose the 'show only marked files' command to display only your selected files. Then click the helper toolbar drop down menu and choose iUploader. Your photos will be uploaded and a progress bar will be displayed. 
  20.      b. Just drag the photos you want to upload directly onto the iUploader icon.
  21.  Go to that site to view your photos online.

  23. Currently supported Sites, and Site tips:

  25. Current site is displayed in the File menu, to select another site select preferences and leave it on the site you wish to use.  Future version of iUpload will support more sites.

  27. Any format readble by QuickTime that is not supported by a site is converted to JPG. 
  28. QuickTime will convert most image file formats including TIF, GIF, PICT, PNG, Flash PIX and other formats.  Multi-File upload current does not do file convertion, except when file scaling is enabled or images are in PICT format.

  30. iUpload.log  file will hve details of file scaling and convertion.

  32. PhotoPoint

  34. Newly uploaded images can be found in the incoming album once you log in. It can take several minutes before new files are placed in your incoming album depending on system load.

  36. Note: PhotoPoint converts all Images are converted to JPG images, but supports most file formats (JPG, GIF, TIF, etc).  Max. resolution is 2048 x 2048 pixcels.

  38. Resize to fit 640 x 480 option is done locally, and can save on upload time.

  42. Newly uploads can be found in your inbox. Once logged in you can goto directly to: <http://www.zing.com/mypictures/inbox/> 
  43. And use the refress option in your browser, to see the new uploads.

  45. Note: all Images are converted to JPG images. Max size image is 2MB.

  47. Errors in the range of -1 to -3 are account / password errors. Check passord and account.
  48.               in the range of -4 to -5 are upload errors. Retry later.

  63. The Album Information button, allows you to verify the login, select albums and create new albums.  Album information is only acquired once while in this dialog or you edit the userid or password.

  85. File Menu is used to:
  86. Set the Host preferencesƒ and select Single file for uploading to current site.  
  87.  
  88. Host Preferences contains options for each site support and the Log upload option.
  89. The log upload option will redirect all Alerts and status information to a log file called "iUpload.log" see below for more details.  They are independent or each other.  You will need to create an account with the host site, before configuring iUploader.

  91. When Log Uploads is selected, iUploader runs in "Quit" mode.  No Alerts are presented, status information about success or failure is loged to disk.  When it is not selected any failure, will stop and present the user with the reason for failure

  93. Failure can grouped into three groups: 
  94. 1. Connection failed, 
  95.     Why: host is down for some reason (Remote host problem), your computer is having accessing or keeping  an Internet connection (your computer or local ISP problems).

  97. 2. Account/Password, 
  98.     Why: you specified account or password is wrong.
  99.  
  100. 3. Un-supported format or size of files.  
  101.     Why: Each site has limit on size and type of file they support. Check the site for details.

  103. iUpload.log is created on the DeskTop of your Macintosh computer.  It contains information about success or failure of file uploaded to the selected Internet photograph site. It also include the information about: start and finish time, user id or account set in the preferences and for Multi-file upload the set of files uploaded.

  105. Go to Site Menu is used to launch your default internet Web browser to the selected site's main web page.  You can use this to access other service these sites offer, such as sending postcards and printing of images.

  132. Q. Is there a difference between uploading one image versus multiple images?

  134. A. Uploading multiple images is the same process as upload a single image.  
  135.    Only difference is the 2nd, 3rd, 4th... image do not verify the 
  136.    userid/account before upload the image.

  139. Q. Why is there a difference in file size from the file I uploaded?
  140.  
  141. A. Different in file size MAY be a result of:
  142.    1. the MacOS preview image being removed when it's uploaded. 
  143.    2. If the images is not a JPG, and is not support by the site 
  144.       (PhotoPoint will converts all images to JPG) or 
  145.    3. If your images is bigger then 640 x 480 and you have the option 
  146.       set for PhotoPoint to resize the image to 640 x 480

  149. Q. What it the max size of a photo PhotoPoint will support?

  151. A. No photos larger than 2048x2048.

  154. Q. What it the max size of a photo Zing will support?

  156. A. Maximum size 2 MB per individual file. Most common image types    
  157.             are supported.

  160. Q. I uploaded a MacOS Pict file, and I get a blank image. Whats wrong?

  162. A. Most on-line services do not support all formats of MacOS PICT files.  
  163.    Any picture file that has been compressed with QuickTime most likely will not work.

  165.    As of 1.0b18 PICT files are converted to JPG to correct this limitation.

  167. Q. When I upload a file and use PhotoPoint e-mail option the file mailed is smaller, Why?

  169. A. PhotoPoint resize the image before e-mailing it. It's generally not a good 
  170.    idea to send large attachments via e-mail.
